Franklin Street Glass Staircase- Tribeca

We designed developed this custom staircase in collaboration with the contractor for a private client whose wish was to create a structural but airy expression as the centerpiece of their Tribeca Duplex apartment. The project presented several challenges from the onset, primarily the hoisting of solid steel stringer elements from Franklin Street curbside up and through a 10th-floor window. Next, the stringer elements were precisely reconnected structurally by welding and refinishing on-site. Accurately creating slumped glass guardrails that follow the curvatures of the stringers were another challenge of this project. A highlight of the project is the custom laminated glass treads that accentuate the transparency of the design.
